⚠️2024 Cyber Security Management

With the rise of AI tools capable of cracking passwords and stealing information at an unprecedented scale, safeguarding our online privacy has become more crucial than ever!

Happy Browsing !! Understanding and Implement digital security measures

In our last episode, we explored how AI-generated photos, videos, audios and writings can trick you into clicking malicious links🧑🏼‍💻💔 that stealthily steal your personal information.

Today, we'll dive into the latest password management techniques 🔐 to prevent criminals from secretly hacking into our computers!

Let’s Dive into it !

🔢Set Password, the right way

Don’t be LAZY

  1. Use Strong Password, here’s why

“If it’s easy for us, it’s super easy for them !”

Cybercriminals operate like well-equipped entities😱, employing numerous methods (including advanced AI) to collect personal information. This data can then be used to gain unauthorized access to💰assets. Passwords serve as the first line of defense🙅🏽 against such breaches, but they alone aren't sufficient.

Imagine a criminal collects your legal name, birthday, physical address🏡, email, and mobile number📲, and discovers you have an account with a local bank. They call the bank, request a password reset, and the bank send a verification CODE to your email. If your email address is [email protected] and email password is "Mary123" , and the same password is also used across other platforms, the criminal can quickly crack the password to get the CODE to verify that they are the owner of the bank account !

Soon, you're unable to access your online banking because the password has been changed. The criminal, now in control of your account, can withdraw money💸 before you can alert the bank.

Most banks require users to create a password with a combination of different letters and numbers, with 10 characters or more. However, for platforms like social media, email, and shopping sites, many people opt for simpler passwords for convenience, often repeating the same password across platforms. This leaves the front door wide open for professional cybercriminals to come in and steal personal information and credit card details. 🔒

Here are examples of weak to strong password :

Ideally, avoid using anything related to a name, birthdate, or telephone number of yours or someone close to you when creating passwords. These details are easily accessible and can be exploited by cybercriminals, making your accounts vulnerable. 🕵️‍♂️

  1. Security Questions

Some online banks or platforms may ask you to fill in security questions, such as "What is your mother's maiden name?" or "What is your first pet's name?" Never use real answers, as in this digital age, it's too easy to find this information on social media! Use made-up answers instead, ensuring nobody can uncover them. 🔒

  1. Dedicate ONE email address for CODE Verification purpose

As mentioned earlier, some banks send a code to your email address to verify your identity. Dedicate one email address for all online banking purposes. For example, if you have two online banks and one online broker, use one email address for this purpose. Don't share this email address or use it elsewhere. Keeping it private makes it harder for criminals to even find your email to match with the bank. Use a strong password for this dedicated email and ensure it doesn’t appear on any other platform, such as social media. 🔒

  1. Change password regularly

Change your passwords regularly, especially for online banking password and the email dedicated to this use. Doing so makes it more challenging for cybercriminals to crack the passwords, as they can't keep up with frequent changes. 🔒

  1. Extra Tools

Password managers can help store and generate secure passwords. See Below to learn why you should be using this tool !

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, such as a text message, email as mentioned above or authentication app, making it more challenging for hackers to breach your accounts.

👍🏻👁Biometrics

Biometrics provide a convenient and secure way to authenticate users, but they have their own weaknesses. Our faces🙂 and fingerprints👍🏻 aren't as consistent as we might think, and fingerprints can even be picked up and stolen from high-resolution photos. Therefore, biometric security is best used as an additional layer of security, alongside a strong password and other forms of two-factor authentication. 🔒

🧑‍💼Password Manager

Managing numerous passwords🔑🔑🔑 for different online accounts can be challenging. A password manager simplifies this process by securely storing and organizing your passwords in an encrypted vault. This reduces the need to remember complex passwords, making it easier to create unique, strong passwords for each account.

Here is an example of a💪🏻SUPER STRONG password : Jk8^X#qz!1W@ password manager generates. This password includes a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters, making it more resistant to🙅‍♀️hacking attempts.

Password managers can automatically✍🏻 fill in login credentials, streamlining the login process and minimizing the risk of typing errors. By using a password manager, you can enhance your online security, reduce the risk of password reuse, and protect your digital presence from unauthorized access.

Based on the comprehensive testing and comparison on longevity, features, unique capabilities, trust, and pricing, the video recommends the overall best password manager for 🙌🏼 2024.

🔑PassKey Next Generation Security

A passkey is a modern authentication method designed to eliminate the need for traditional passwords. It typically uses a physical security token, such as Yubikey mentioned in the video.

Passkeys may be the future of account security, eliminating the need for vulnerable passwords and providing a simpler user experience by requiring just a single tap to sign in.
