Chips: What's All the Talk About?

Welcome to our exploration of the fascinating world of Chip Technology. Today, we're diving into the differences between CPUs and GPUs, and spotlighting NVIDIA's pivotal role in this landscape.

1. What are Chips🤔?

Chips are like tiny electronic brains🧠 that help our devices work. They're made of silicon and have lots of tiny parts inside like switches and wires. These parts work together to do different jobs, like remembering things, doing math, or making pictures appear on a screen. You can find chips in like phones, computers, and even some toys!

2. CPUs, GPUs, The Heart❤️of Computing

In the computing world, CPUs & GPUs are 2 major types of chips and have been around for several decades. However, With the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, GPUs has surpassed CPUs as a buzzword.

  • CPUs (Central Processing Unit) - emerged in early 1970, are essential for the overall operation of computers.

  • GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) - emerged in mid-1990, originally designed for rendering graphics particularly for video gaming, now also excel in parallel processing, making them ideal for AI and machine learning tasks.

Together, these technologies power the innovations and applications defining our digital age.

3. Powering AI and Machine Learning

GPUs are like super-speedy helpers that make it easier to work with tricky math problems and big sets of data in AI.

Thanks to GPU, computers can now recognize images, understand languages, and make predictions better and faster than before!
